Bertrand Renaudin

Bertrand Renaudin

He started his classical studies in 1968 at the Conservatory of Rennes and would be one of the first students of Dante Agostini and of Kenny Clark. He discovered jazz in the 1970s thanks to, among others, the trio Eddy Louiss, René Thomas and Kenny Clark. Laureate of the National competition of “Jazz de la Défense” with his quartet in 1988, he dedicated himself exclusively since 1989 to his own creation, except an adventure with the quartet Steve Potts (1988-191) and a remarkable participation in Jean-Charles Capon’s quartet (1997-1999). Passionate of travels, which the influence can be felt in his compositions, he did many tours abroad under his name. He went to the Middle East, in Syria, Egypt, Palestine, occupied territories, but also in the Western Balkans, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, and most of all Africa.

Since 1993, he lives regularly in different countries of this continent, to produce some projects that are important for him. “A man of compassion, he dedicates his songs to his friends, to people from elsewhere, to countries, in short to human adventures without which he would not be the man he is.” After about fifteen albums, he acquired recognition from the big public with “L’arbre voyage” in 2000 and “Turbulent Silence” in 2003. The year 2006 marks his return on the discographic scene with two new albums recorded with the label Laborie Jazz, “Les fleurs auront toujours le dernier mot” and his United Flowers Quartet of high quality, precise, melodic, the confirmation of a perfect aesthetic and stability.
