Unveiling

Having completed studies in Toulouse Conservatory of Music, Paul Lay integrates CNSM in Paris inside the Jazz and Improvised Music Department, working notably with Hervé Sellin, François Théberge, Glenn Ferris and Dre Paellemearts. He follows CNSM’s cycle of development in close collaboration with Ricardo Del Fra and has the opportunity to play with Joey Baron, Marc Johnson, Archie Shepp, Michel Portal, Marc Ducret, Louis Sclavis.

He is the laureate of numerous International Piano Jazz contests : Moscow in 2005, Martial Solal in 2006, Montreux in 2007. Also in 2007 he becomes the laureate of the Meyer Foundation and is awarded the Mécénat Musical Société Générale grant. Because of his sensitivity, his phrasing and the quality of his compositions, Paul Lay will assert as one of the major new jazz artist in the coming years.
